Hello everyone! My very own trip to Spain is just around the corner! We can't wait - our flight leaves this Monday afternoon (16th October). You all have been so helpful with the questions I've asked, I thought I'd ask a few more last minute questions...

We'll be flying into Barcelona, staying there for a few days, and then we're planning on taking an overnight train to Madrid, staying there for a few days. Then, we have to come back to Barcelona again to catch our flight back home.

So - my question is - anyone have any special info about train travel between Barcelona and Madrid? (and back, of course). What should it end up costing us? Anyone have personal experiences with the train they'd want to share?

I've talked about this many times. The best way to travel between Barcelona and Madrid currently is by plane.

Iberia has the best offers: 11980 pesetas round trip including taxes ($62.56).

Spanair and Air Europa have also offers at about 14000 / 15000 pesetas.

Have a nice time in Spain,

Antonio

Right you are Antonio - I read up on your replies just now. I *knew* I should have searched first. It is quite affordable to fly in Spain!

Thanks for your response!

Hopefully I'll get a little chance to post while I'm in Espana!

You may already be gone but just wanted to say that I took the trip from Barcelona to Madrid by train a couple of times. I know plane travel is faster and reasonably priced, but I sure loved traveling by train abroad. I love watching the countryside change and getting a brief glimpse at parts of the country I wouldn't get to see otherwise...
