I have been trying to find sites for bus timetables in Andalucia as I am thinking of going to Arcos de la Frontera from Jerez. Is Bus the best method? How much and how often do they run?

Also from Madrid to Avila and/or El Escorial.

Many Thanks

David

Sorry, I don't have a web site for timetables, but I took the Jerez-Arcos bus three years ago and the service was very frequent. It was a Sunday afternoon going to Arcos, so service was less than regular, but even then there were buses every hour or so. Coming back a few days later there were also frequent (every hour or less) buses. It wasn't very expensive, either (my faulty memory suggests in the 600-800 pta range). The trip is about 40 minutes.

Hi DavidB,

I got this timetable for El Escorial through MissMadrid98's web site . The bus company is Autocares Herranz, S.L. . Just click on this and it will take you to their site.

They also offer a round trip ticket to the Valley of the Fallen from El Escorial. But it only goes there once a day except Monday (Valley is closed Monday) at 15:15 and returns to El Escorial at 17:30.

Hi missmadrid98,

I read on Rick Steve's guide book that Autocares Herranz buses leaves Madrid from the basement level of the Moncloa metro stop. Has it changed? If my basic Spanish is right, I think it also says in the Autocares Herranz, S.L. web site . Or do they also have departures at Chamartin?

We're planning to visit El Escorial next week and I just want to make sure that we go to the right station. Please advise. Thanks.

....NJmaria

Muchas Gracias Todos

Does any-one have any more information on the Jerez - Arcos route like where the buses leave from?

David

There's a bus terminal in Jerez de la Frontera. My bus stopped there when I was travelling from Cadiz to Sevilla on one of my visits to Spain last year. Sorry I can't help with the Arcos de la Frontera service.

The bus station is just a block or so away from the train station. I have a map at home and will try to check it for the address.

Muchas Gracias

Thanks for all the help.

Brian. I would appreciate the directions to the Bus Station in Jerez plus anything else that you may think is important.

Any other information from others will be appreciated.

David
