They add on $50 dollars in fees and taxes to the ticket price making that cheap ticket come to a cost of $85.

The dumb math says, for every $1 of the cost of the ticket, there is $2 in fees and taxes that is added on.

You can say that again, Bill from NYC. I never believe those come-on gimmicks saying you can fly for 1 or 2 Euros. That's just the STARTING price, as you said. Add it all up and it's more like a "normal" airfare. But it did get your attention, didn't it!
