Got any suggestions on how to find the right platform at Atocha train station.

Got a friend coming in next month, taking the AVE into Atocha and then he wants to take Renfe out to Collado Mediano. I'd really like to avoid having to make a trip into the city to pick him up.

Of all the stations in Madrid Atocha is by far the most confusing and I'm a bit worried about him getting lost. I mean I have problems there.

Debating telling him to catch the metro to Nuevos Ministerios but that seems to be a waste of time.

Thanks

came up with simple solution, go to Nuevos Ministerios and there are only 4 platforms (excluding the palra 3C one) and simply wait till the destination is displayed unlike Attocha NM trains are clearly signed. The train runs only once an hour.
