I love this thread !! Talking to the older generation is a way of understanding not just history , but life in general .
I know that when I go to Moscow in a few weeks time my brother´s father-in-law will be showing me all the photos of him in the Red Army whilst toasting my visit with vodka . I will get an exclusive window on life in Russia during the Soviet Union .
I love hearing stories about the past ... all my grandparents have died now but they gave me such good advice , about life , before they died . That good advice , and the stories have been passed on to my nieces .. Even now they remember family stories that their great grandmother told them .
