Can you imagine being in the market and having this happen.

Enjoy this one.

Something similar happened at railway stations in London and I remembered being really moved by it .
Thanks jcoste01 .. truly spectacular video clip ... amazing ! And it´s true what the sign at the end says ( Now you see that you like opera ) .. It has such a high brow reputation , but when you hear opera live or you see ballet live THEN you understand how beautiful these things are . This sort of event in Valencia makes people aware of that . I saw the Cuban ballet dancer , Carlos Acosta , in London as was blown away ( read about his life story ... there´s definitely a film there !!! ). A Japanese colleague of mine sang opera ( once for a benefit gala infront of Princess Diana ) . I went to a friend´s wedding and he sang at the reception . Not a dry eye in the room ! Completely spectacular and very powerful !
Thanks again Jim for that video ... very beautiful !

Thanks for the video! I was moved to tears on that one. Can't wait to show this to the wife, she's an opera nut.

This kind of "spontaneous" entertainment events are popping up everywhere around the world. I saw a similar one (on YouTube) which took place at a mall in Rome and, of course, there's the famous Oprah Winfrey "I Gotta Feeling" dancers.

I think it's great. It really makes people's day. Can't imagine what a surreal experience it is (in the first few moments) to have this happen right next to you as you go about your daily routine.

At the end of the video someone holds up a sign which says, "¿Ves como te gusta la Ópera?" - or "See how much you like Opera?" Very nice. Very nice, indeed. thumbsup

Thank you so much for sharing this, jcoste01! wave

wonderful video and a nostalgic place for me, my Aunt used to take my Mom and I there as she was from El Saler and meanders into town often; back in the good old days ::)

Libiamo Ne'lieti Calici (Let's drink from this merry chalice)

[Alfredo]
Libiamo, libiamo ne'lieti calici
che la belleza infiora.
E la fuggevol, fuggevol ora s'inebrii
a voluttà.
Libiam ne'dolci fremiti che suscita l'amore,
poiché quell'ochio al core onnipotente va.
Libiamo, amore, amor fra i calici più caldi baci avrà.

[Coro]
I calici più caldi baci avrà. I calici più caldi baci avrà.

[Violetta]
Tra voi tra voi saprò dividere il tempo mio giocondo;

[Coro]
Godiamo, la tazza, la tazza e il cantico, la notte abbella e il riso;
in questo, in questo paradiso ne scopra il nuovo dì.

[Violetta]
La vita è nel tripudio

[Alfredo]
Quando non s'ami ancora.

[Violetta]
Nol dite a chi l'ignora,

[Alfredo]
E'il mio destin così...

[Tutti]
Godiamo, la tazza, la tazza e il cantico,
la notte abbella e il riso; in questo, in questo paradiso ne scopra il nuovo dì.

VIVA VERDI!!!

These two pieces are from La Traviata. The first piece is "Parigi o cara". The second part being the "Drinking Song", "Libiamo ne'lieti calici".

I am an opera fanatic! I love opera! If I were at that market place when they started singing Libiamo I probably would have joined in! This is so awesome! Thanks jcoste01 for sharing this with us! Un gran abrazo!
