Hi, I am renting an apartment really close to Atocha station. Near C/General Lacy. Could you let me know how's that area?
Thanks

This area is fine. There are really no tourists milling around which is nice. It's an average Spanish neighborhood. On the down-side, reaching Plaza Mayor and Puerta del Sol is all (gently) uphill and about a 30 minute walk (maybe 25 minutes if you are in very good shape).

Be sure to take a look at your exact address via http://www.google.com/maps and take a stroll using the "Street View" function.

Saludos, MadridMan

Loc: Hastings Old Town , England .
It does also mean that you´re within striking distance of the Reina Sofia Museum , and my favourite place in Madrid - Retiro Park . The amazing tropical garden inside the station AND MM´s favourite bar , Namely El Brillante where you´ll get good tapas and a great Bocadillo de Calamares ( Squid Sandwich ) . Steve

Thanks. Now we have 3 little ones with us. Is it easy to push a stroller around in Plaza Mayor and Puerta del Sol area?
Also, there's subway to take us there, right?
