Puna, it's not me who's going, but Valenciano_en_Madrid wink

But I'd wish going, too (and I'm seriously thinking about spending in NYC a pre-Christmas week)

Hi,
I chose the East Coast for my first visit to the USA specially New York were I would like to stay at least for a week.

I could buy a travel package wich is much cheaper and easier but also less interesting. This is a problem because my girlfriend doesnt like adventure and prefers an organized tour.

I have bought a travel guide and I will visit the American Embassy in Madrid to ask for more information.

So I am thinking of postponing the trip for the next year. I will plan my trip better, I am looking forward to it.

Thank you very much to everyone for your great advice. I copied all your posts.

Un saludo

Make sure you get tickets for Broadway shows while in NYC. They can be rather expensive
www.broadwaybox.com or theatermania.com - has great discounts for advance sale tickets.

Also, I would highly recommend Washington DC for anyone to visit - you could spend a week there too to see and do everything. It is a 4 hour car ride from NYC, but there are fast trains to get there too.

Don't bother stopping by the US Embassy for travel information because there is no tourism office (I believe US Travel and Tourism was disbanded by the Reagan administration).

Since Valenciano_en_Madrid is not going this year, someone might be visiting New York City might be interest in this website, New Yorkled

What is good about this website you can find information what is going on in New York City for the month. Most of the information on this website you will not find in the guide books.

I used it when I want to find something to do for the weekend.

New York ,New York :the big apple; the capital of the world.
I am going in july for a revisit to my old high school and my first graduating class reunion;did i say 30 yrs!
its just over the river in New Jersey so will enjoy all the past glories there.

Your first visit should be grand, go to New York and then in later years if you have time/money see the rest.
My five cents worth.
