Can anyone help me choose between Hotel Plaza Mayor and Hostal Adriano ? (there is a post about this in the archive but its a bit old).

The former is €55 + 7% and the latter is €45. The former is probably marginally better located (never been so I dont know), but the latter looks like it has more charm/character.

Im travelling alone in case that influences the recommendation.

I might catch hell on this board, b/c I know there are a lot of Adriano lovers here, but I wasn't all that impressed w/ the adriano. The location if fine, but I thought the rooms left a little to be desired. Totally clean and tastefully decorated, but the bathroom i had was the smallest i've ever encountered in my life. The beds were like air matresses, and after hiking up 5 flights of stairs I just it was a little let down. That said, the people there were friendly and I had no problems, but probably will stay elsewhere next time.

I've never stayed at the Adriano, and it certainly gets high marks from a lot of folks on this board.

That said, I have stayed at Hotel Plaza Mayor several times and loved it. Friendly staff, spic and span, well-appointed rooms, nice bar for snacks and breakfast on the premises, great location. I love it!

I've stayed at Hostal Adriano 2 times. It's very very cute and clean. I stayed there again.
