I've been caught red-handed..... It was just too nice a picture not to use on my blog site. If we ever meet up in España I owe you a cafe!
As a minor criminal I tend to treat pics and words on the web (especially on bulletin boards) as being in the public domain!!!

Do they still produce in La Mancha..."Virgen de las viñas? If so, is the Sampedro family still involved?

Sheryl,

Cooperativa Virgen de Las Viñas, in Tomelloso, is still producing wine, yes.

But I never knew anything about the Sampedro family. The manager now is Manuel Olmedo Peinado...

I'd be interested to know more about your interest in that Coop! smile

The answer is...I was engaged to the grandson of the then president of the co-op.

I was in Tomelloso a very long time ago for a romería with my fiancé to meet the family. I got to visit the winery and believe me, sample is not the word. We drank the wine (excellent, by the way) from there from the early AM until the early AM.

Well, I did leave out one "small" part of the story...we drank so much wine that I remember that when we went through th bodega and saw all the huge vats of wine, I actually thought about diving in and drinking my way out. That's when I realized..."I think I have had too much to drink."

Sheryl,

Don't worry! Every time I'm in a bodega I dream about what it would be like to swim in wine, whether I've been drinking any wine or not...

What a pleasant daydream... =)
