You were there tonight at 9:22 and at 9:23pm you posted your message. You have to stay in the room for a few minutes until someone comes along. You see, people come to the chat room, see it's empty, and they leave immediately. So what you have is, say, 60 visitors per hour, one coming every minute, they see it's empty, and they leave. One minute later another person comes, sees it's empty and leaves. If you stay for a few minutes people will come and then you can chat.

I was in the chat room last night at the time I listed above for about 45 minutes and 3 people came along and we chatted a bit.
