My friend Mercedes and I are getting together at 1:30pm Friday at BAZAAR, a Spanish restaurant on Calle Libertad, 21, just about a block southeast from the Plaza de Chueca. Click HERE for map . I've NEVER been there but comes highliy recommended by Mercedes (a madrileña who speaks English too). She says they have an affordable Menú del Dia too.

Sorry for the late notice. I know a lot of people will be out of the city on vacation. For those in the city, feel free to come by for lunch. 1:30pm is considered EARLY but might be better if the place gets busy. Do you agree, Mercedes?

What a GREAT lunch we had today and in such a cooool place. (and, while cool the temperature was quite warm) THANKS TO MERCEDES for recommending it!

By the time we walked in (1:45pm) there were many tables available so we had our choice. By the time we left, there were about as many tables available. BUT DURING the 3 hours we were having lunch the place was PACKED FULL both upstairs and downstairs.

The five of us have some good conversation over some very good food. I had the lubina (fish - complete with head, tail, eyes, scales, and lots of fish bones in my teeth) which was very very tasty and I'm not a fish-eater by history. After that I had the spaghetti with meat(s) and a kind of teriyaki sauce. For dessert I had the Semana Santa staple torrijas. Mmmm... All totaled, each person paid about 22 Euros with the tip. I was hoping they'd have their Menú del Día which they DID NOT have because, they said, it was a holiday and they only have it during workdays.

I was so sad about it that i couldnt come on the lunch, i was spending my semana santa in fatima portugal passing by the city tour of town in extremadura, anyway. hope that next time ill be there!

Yes we had a great time food whas awesoom. Anyone else interested in going to the same place this weekend, thinking Saturday lunch. May 6th I think.
