Hope you all had WONDERFUL holidays! I know I did... I am exhausted from all the festivities, crazy last minute shopping, and moving from Connecticut to Hoboken this weekend. I start a new job in a new city for the New Year, and I'm psyched!!!

Now we have to get that Madrileno cena off the ground soon... I was thinking we should have the dinner either this Saturday (the 11th) or February 1st. I will be in San Diego the two weeks in the middle of these dates, so these are the dates that seem to work out. I don't know if this Saturday is too last-minute. Get back to me everybody, and I hope to relive some of the last cena's craziness!

Alright, let's plan to do this on February 1st... Granada Girl, Esperanza, Billy Ski, Melinda, and the rest of the gang... you all in?

We can go to Riazor, on W16th Street, unless anyone else has another suggestion? We did Xunta last time which was really fun, but it'll be nice to try something new...

Any suggestions!?!?

Bobster, that would be COOL, but I'm in Maryland now! I may be in Connecticut that weekend, though, so I'll do my best to join in!

Have fun if I can't make it!!

Sounds good to me! I work until around 6, but after that I'm free. Feb 1 is perfect. Semester starts tomorrow so I shouldn't be too busy until three or four weeks after that wink

Count me in!
Riazor is a good place and the family that runs it really goes out of their way to please plus it doesn't get crowded.

Glad to see you guys are all in! Next week, I'll make a reservation there. I was thinking around 8 pm, does that work for everyone? Make sure you come with a lot of energy, because we are going to go out afterwards as well! Any suggestions for post-dinner festivities?

Frank Sinatra sang....:
Quote:
Start spreading the news, I'm leaving today
I want to be a part of it - New York, New York
These vagabond shoes, are longing to stray
Right through the very heart of it - New York, New York

I want to wake up in a city, that doesn't sleep
And find I'm king of the hill - top of the heap

These little town blues, are melting away
I'm gonna make a brand new start of it - in old New York
If I can make it there, I'll make it anywhere
It's up to you - New York, New York
I had no idea there were so few lyrics! Easy! wink

Have fun, everyone! I'd love to just show up at one of these things sometime and surprise everyone. Only JoeSambuca and Nate would recognize me though. hehehe.. Enjoy!

JoeSambuca, I EXPECT you to dress in your best attire. But then, WHAT ELSE would you possibly wear, you Dapper Dan, you! heheheh.. wink I swear, JoeSambuca is the coooolest! And Nate's no slouch either! I don't suppose any curly haired redheads will be attending will they????? Mmmmm.... :p

Saludos, MadridMan

Thank you! Thank you! thank you Madridman for those kind unsolicited words.

I just want evryone to know I did not and I stress did not pay Madridman $26.50 (includes $1.50 for the money order because he wouldn't accept a personal check from me)to say those "unsolicited words". wink

Tis a shame the red headed lass will not be attending for she has a previous engagement with a kindly gentleman but her spirit will be ever so present.

Don't worry Madrid man we're going to take a gazillion pics this time.

VIVA MADRID!!

Hey dude when are you going to get spell check?....I need it.

Sorry Nate! I could/should have done much better than "Nat's no slouch either!" but maybe in New Yawk that's a VERY NICE compliment. wink Nate, as I recall, was dressed in all classy black and was a real conversationalist. Seems to me you and my ladyfriend had a lot to talk about. mad hehehe... wink

caminante, you won't see ME shirtless on the live cam these cold winter days in Ohio. Brrrrrr.... But wait 'til summer! eek rolleyes wink :p

Have a GREAT time at the New York, New York gathering, everyone!!! Wish I could go.

Saludos, MadridMan

Well, it has been awhile since I have seen my three favorite men, MadridMan, JoeSambuca, and of course Nate. This is the curly red head that adjoins the two "infamous" travellors: JoeSambuca and Nate"

So all, I see Riazor is what u want. Hmm, hows about a little tradeway on this. I believe since we New Yorker's know OUR city, try a bit better.

And Nate you look better in New York City Transit Green, whereas JoeSambuca: well Men In Black is his attire.

I guess its time to post those many pictures from our "infamous" trips and those bad hangovers now.

Of course with permission MADRIDMAN.

Welcome, NEWYORKRED!!!! Nice to 'see' you here on our message board!

Those photos you mention, are they of your Spain trip(s)? Do you have them hosted somewhere and include a URL to those pictures? If so, DO IT! We'd love to see them, no doubt.

Hope YOU, NEWYORKRED, can make it to the NYC gathering!!!

Ok, the list so far is:

Joe Sambuca + 1
Nate + 1
Melinda
Esperanza + 3
Me (+ 1 maybe)

I will make a reservation for 12, that should be more than enough... if you guys can recruit anyone else, tell me and I will change the reservations accordingly.

Just to confirm, we are dining at 7 pm at Riazor, which is located on 245 W 16th St. Everyone better get there with an empty stomach and a lot of energy!!!

See you all soon,

Bobby

Hey everyone...it WAS a lot of fun last night. Riazor was a very good place to meet. laugh The food was delicious. We ate tortilla smile , of course, calamares, pulpo a la gallega, champiñones rellenos, chorizo, pan con tomate (YUM!!), gambas al ajillo, and patatas bravas ( not like Madrid...but very tasty indeed!) And to wash it all down...SANGRIA...
My family and I had a very good time. Thanks Bobby for organizing this date and for being so kind to my daughters...they had a very good time too. smile

So, did you guys really go for karaoke in Chinatown?
Nate...so you are up to 15 cool lucky man wink

Hi All:
I had a great time. The company was excellent. The food was excellent. The sangria was excellent.
We have to do this again. We had seven members and four guests on this venture.
We didn't get to sing karaoke. We went to a local bar because we were all stuffed and we didn't feel like travelling far. But we did hear Bobster sing later in the middle of the streets of Manhattan. It seems the Sangria took a liking to him. He serenaded a yellow cab, quite touching actually. wink

Viva Madrid

Tom: keep asking those questions.... wink
Melinda: does Busimento (not sure of spelling) like Bustello?
Nate: There are other color besides black for clothes.
Esperanza:Send me the recipe for your great tortilla
Bobby: see above
Joe sambuca aka me: Note to self: stay away from Sangria

Hey all,

Saturday night was a blast! Thanks to everyone that came, we all had a ball... great food and great conversation!

Yes Marisa, we will have to organize another dinner soon, maybe next month or early March. I'm glad you and your sister had fun!

Richy Rich, you animal, I finally went to bed around 4:30. I'm glad you appreciated the serenade!

Something I'd like you guys to think of for the future is maybe a night of cafe-hopping. We can find some small Spanish style cafes, and try to hit up 3 or 4 in a night.

Viva Madrid!

~ Bobby
