Another good excuse to organize a summery get together, he, he, he!

Nice idea!, last year we enjoyed a lot with a meeting organized by Roses in August, we don´t need excuses for enjoying ourselves ;-)

We´ll happily host something at our place (I think!! ) if you all feel like making the trek up here. If not...let us know where and when and we´ll be there!!

I have more free time than I know what to do with. I just need a little notice. If some time and date is agreeded upon, I´ll be there. I am recovering from a weekend of pinchos and sangria. Valladolid has had a five day pincho contest organized by the diputación. About 90 bars submitted orginal pinchos to the voting public, I have followed the Chicago model: voted early, and voted often . Sorry, off topic my throbbing head and swollen belly are to blame.

I'm glad to see that so many people replied. I'm depending on the locals to name their favorite cafe....I'm cool with going anywhere. Change of plans, I'll be arriving in Madrid on Sunday the 15th of July and I have no concrete plans...what about the following Friday...I did plan on going to Lisbon and then coming back to Madrid...I have a ticket to come back to the states on the 24th of July (from London!) but I think I'm going to extend my trip for a week.

Any ideas...keep it going!

Actually, one possible alternative could be to have dinner at the veeery unexpensive restaurant La Rosa, with its tipical Spanish cuisine and reeeally homey(¿?) atmosphere, and then head to El Viajero's terrace, only a couple of streets away; the drinks there aren't cheap, but this way, we compensate....does this make sense?

What day are we doing this exactly?

Since we probably won't know the number of people that will turn up at the end, we won't be making a reservation, therefore, if we're a big group, we might not fit in the cozy la Rosa, so another alternative also in La Latina is El Almendro.
And a possibility after El Viajero is to go see a show at Berlin Cabaret....

I couldn´t go last night! Booo hooo!!

Sometimes I forget about the conveniences of America and how quickly you can get things done. I brought my car into the shop yesterday morning (9:30am) and asked them to replace the brake pads and to give me a call when the car was ready since I needed it for the evening.

At 5:00pm, when I hadn´t heard anything from the mechanic, I called him (Remember, I´m in a pueblecito about 65km northwest of Madrid). I asked him about my car and he said, that he was planning on looking at it today (Friday!! --- when??? It was already 5pm!!) and it should be ready by tomorrow (Saturday) !

Alas, here I am, 11am Saturday and still without a car! Just got back from the mechanic and he promised me I would have it by 2pm. We´ll see.

PIM I hope you apologized to Jo and Miche for me! Did you guys have a good time? I know that Asterault couldn´t go either at the last minute due to an early trip to BCN today.

Jo, Miche, if you guys are still in town, maybe there is a way we can meet up (if I ever get my darned car back!!)...drop me an email or ask PIM for my mobile number!

Hi board members!, Chica, we missed you...

Fortunately the "miniparty" was so good and we had a great night, the bars and "taperías" of Madrid were very crowed of people and we had some problems to find space for eating "tapas" together.

I met new people and I enjoyed a lot talking about our experiences with the Madrid visitors. We started the night in the Plaza Mayor, at 22:30 we went to "El Almendro", a wine shop with excellent "caldos" of Spain. After that we tried some "tapas bar", and luckily we found free seats in "Tapasentao", a strange "tapería" with a little cave in the downstairs, we tasted "rabas", crispy chiken, "morcilla", "tortilla", "esparragos",and fried potatoes sticks, too much potatoes sticks!!!, with "chorizo" and "pimientos", We got tired of potatotes

Finally we went to "El Viajero", a nice place with a fresh terrace under the stars, for drinking something, but here the night finished for me and for my two friends (Fernando and Ivan), we left the "miniparty" then.

Baaaaaaaaaaaa

Well these two sheep met up with Hilde and MAD for Madrid in Plaza Mayor first of all (well done miche for baaaing so convincingly and getting their attention!)

Hmm, did we have a good night? Well, we spoke and ate a lot, walked a lot, saw Penelope Cruze´s sister a couple of times (same face, different hair), and THEN we went to Berlin Caberet for Drag Queen entertainment which was an education in sparkly lip adornment - we need to work on this one miche!

Today we´ve had mainly water and fruit to make up for the food we had last night!

So sorry Becky couldn´t come. Can we meet up on Monday with you and Pim and possibly Barry? Just for a coffee if your all busy?

MIGUELITO - are you recovered? Are you ready to talk big money? The photo is ready to be posted unless you come up with the required goods!

Anyway, we met some great people and hope to see everyone again somewhere sometime.

Antonio - give my regards to your Gremlin friend - (you need to get out more!)

Grrrrrrrr, well the night just rocked, a beautiful evening, lovely people everywhere, and fist class company. I´m so pleased to have met you all, it was an absolute treat-thanks to you all.

Just had to report that I had a very nice lunch and afternoon with Jo and Miche on Monday. I have to say, they are as everybit crazy in real life as they are in the chatroom! Hee hee! And for those of you who attended Friday night´s party... I have seen THE PICTURES...Yes, that means yours too Miguelito. POST IT JO!!! Sorry that I missed it first hand!

Now Jo and Miche, you really do have to brush up on your baaaaahhing. If you had baaaahed at El Oso y Madroño in Sol, I would have found you much faster instead of standing around like an idiot!

Wow! I've been so busy with work I haven't been able to write for over a week.
Jo, thanks for being so kind and avoid posting pics where you can see me (closing my eyes I'm sure!), actually, there's one where you can see just a tiny face, and still I manage to look VERY strange!
I said it before and I'll say it again, you're so witty! It was great meeting you in person. I'm so sorry I was suffering from a little bit of what I call "The Friday Syndrome"(=tiredness!!!) and stuffing ourselves at that sauna, I mean restaurant, didn't help!

MMan, sadly, Fernando wasn't there that day. But yes! Nativo was there and so was Castiza, I sat between them and felt REALLY in ESPAÑA CAÑÍ (with those names, ha, ha!)
My sis couldn't make it, she had other plans for earlier in the evening and we were at such noisy places (crowded) all night, it was impossible for us to arrange a meeting over the (mobile)phone afterwards.

Well guys, we have to do it again sometime!
