Check the webcams in the site. Today we have awaken with 10 inches of snow in Madrid, something extremely rare (I just remember a snowfall like this more than 15 years ago).

I think you mean 10 centimeters (almost 4 inches). At least from what I've seen it's definitely not 10 inches, but even so it's a lot of snow for Madrid. A beautiful morning!

I've loved the fact that my kitty has woken me up today at about 6:30AM so that through totally sleepy eyes I've seen the rooftop covering my attic all in white...for a few seconds I thought I was still dreaming! smile

I lllllllove it!

(Not looking forward to enduring this sort of weather on a daily basis for months in Brussels, though. I was there for St. Valentine's weekend and I can't remember ever seeing hail like that being blown by such strong wind! How unplesant!...)

My colleagues in Pozuelo reported they had six to eight inches of snow, in the Salamanca area we had two to three when I got up this morning. There have been flurries continuing all day, but melting rather than further accumulation.

Yes, I meant 10-15 cm (sorry about the conversion)!

Enjoy the pictures, they are rare (the heaviest snowfall since 1957)!

Imagine my surprise when I woke up this morning and left my piso to walk to school, only to find the city covered in white. I felt like I had been transported back home to Wisconsin! It was fabulous to walk to and from the university today in the gentle snow...definitely not what I expected in Madrid!

The only bad thing is that Wednesday's are my laundry days...and I can't very well hang out my clothes to dry in the snow smile

So Beautiful.. I was in Madrid two weeks ago but mmm I missed this!

Anyway, I went to San Lorenzo del Escorial: it was all covered in snow and was truly beautiful (the monastery under the snow... awesome).
