ChrisR, as far as I can tell, none of the "new" ones are pirated copies. They've all come in commercial packaging (as far as I can tell). Most of those I've bought have been on the market for more than one year. Maybe I'm confusing the prices of "new" ones with the "used" ones. I used ones are always great too, most coming from video rental stores which have either gone out of business or bought up by XYZ company when the video rental stores reduce their inventory, when a particular film goes from "New Releases" to the standard, non-New Release status. Many of the "used" ones I've bought have been for about $5!! Plus, $2 for shipping, of course.

You're right, the consumer has to be careful. I always confirm that it is an original and not a "copy".

The official position of both AMAZON.com and E-Bay is tough. Copyright infringement is not tolerated. They turn in these sellers to the appropriate authorities, and deny them seller rights. So they are working hard to try to stem the flow of unauthorized copies of films, DVD's, Cd's, and computer software. The fines in the U.S. are stiff ($10,000) for this behavior.
