Ok folks, Im going to date myself here, so here it goes...This past weekend my Mom aske me to help her clear out a lot of junk in her garage and I came across a box of old...Im mean very old LPs of various Latin artists. Does anyone remember Los Churumbeles de Espana? They were one of my Mom's favorite artists and she played their records all the time. I had forgotten about this group until I found her old records. My Mom is 86 years old, so you older folks may have a better appreciation for Los Churumbeles than the younger ones here. There music is still available on CDs.

Well, Oso, yes I do remember the Churumbeles de España, my favorite song of theirs is "El Beso." They were around during the Latin craze in the early 1950's. They toured the Americas and conquered in such Capitals as Havana, Panama City, and Mexico City, to name a few. They brought popular Spanish songs from the time period. Oso, I also remember and a fan of such greats as TinTan, Cantinflas, Jorge Negrete (my abuela was in love with this guy and took me to all of his movies),Pedro Infante, María Victoria, Pedro Vargas, Yolanda Montes "Tongolele", I've realy dated myself, haven't I?

Wow Booklady, you sure opened up a box of great musical memories. My mom listened to all those artists, Pedro Infante and Jorge Negrete were also her favorites. I grew up listening to all of them. We had music playing all the time at home when I was growing up. I can't recall a day going by without having music playing or my mom singing. Do you remember Solamente Una Vez? My mom used to sing it all the time.

I love that song, Oso. The last time I heard it was by Placido Domingo, and before that by Julio Iglesias. It's the kind of timeless song that just gets better. There is an English version, I think.
But Oso, my favorite is "Noche de Ronda." Do you remember this one?
Noche de ronda, qué triste pasas,
qué triste cruzas, por mi balcón.
Noche de ronda, cómo me hieres,
cómo lastimas mi corazón.
Luna que se quiebra
sobre la tiniebla de mi soledad,
¿a dónde vas?
Dime si esta noche
tú te vas de ronda como ella se fue
¿Con quién estás?
Dile que la quiero,
dile que me muero de tanto esperar,
que vuelva ya;
que las rondas no son buenas,
que hacen daño, que dan penas,
que se acaba por llorar.
Sublime.....
