Everyone I know who's seen this film has raved about it. As far as I can tell, the R2-PAL DVD has no foreign subtitles on it. I've thought about buying it anyway, though my French is very rusty.

Bonjour janlo! I'm a French-speaker ... in fact, it's my first language. Anyways, to cut to the chase, there is an English version to L'Auberge espagnole which is called Euro Pudding. I checked it out at:
http://us.imdb.com/Title?0283900
So that should make El Viajero happy! wink

In case you canīt find a legitimate version of L'auberge espagnole, itīs on the P2P networks. Itīs a shame about how DVD regions work. I bought a paticular DVD brand that I knew I could hack and change the region just so I could watch Airbag

I saw this movie last night on the IFC/Independent Film Channel in the U.S.

Very nice movie. It had english subtitles. While most of the movie is in French, there is a lot of Spanish, English and Catalan spoken.

In Spain, I think the movie was released as "Una casa de locos".

4 out of 5 stars clap

I gor a kick out of the scene in the film near the beginning when the professor in the large lecture hall of the Barcelona university begins speaking to his students in Catalan. One of the students raises her hand to request that he speak in Castilian because some of them do not understand Catalan. He wrily suggests that perhaps those students who do not understand Catalan should perhaps be studying in Madrid or in South America instead.

I LOVE this film! I bought the DVD so that I could watch it whenever I wanted to. FYI, the movie is also known as "The Spanish Apartment" in the US in case you're having difficulty finding it.

Most of it is in French, but quite a bit is in English as well as Spanish. Or, should I say Castilian/castellano? wink The scene arthurg mentions is very funny indeed. One of my other favorite scenes is the interview scene .

On the DVD you can watch with English or Spanish subtitles as you prefer.

There's also another YouTube scene, 5 minutes, called "Roommates Night Out" at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gCeJp42g_68

"LandLord's Visit" scene at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ta6l4kFgfpw

My goodness. It seems YouTube has 5 minute clips of nearly the entire movie!

I like this movie too. Nice scenes of Barcelona's old quarter(s). I wonder if it was mainly filmed in the Gothic Quarter or El Raval.

Saludos, BarcelonaMan
