Have you all watched the academy award celebration yesterday, and does anyone share my view that Javier Bardem should have been the winner for best leading actor? Nothing against Russell Crowe, but this Gladiator movie in my humble opinion was just a very well crafted movie with a shallow story and did not require great acting capabilities, whereas Before night falls was a big challenge for an actor and Javier Bardem did it great!

I agree. Actually there were a couple of actors that I thought deserved it more than Russel. His performance was good, but not as nuanced or interesting as some of the others. I would have been thrilled to see Javier win. I have enjoyed his owrk in Spanish films for some time.
