good goal (in my opinion) scored by lille thought the defender should have cleared it without falling down so easily. the rule on freekicks is when the referee says play on you are allowed to take it, not wait until the opposition is ready. how many times in any game do you see freekicks taken in the middle of the park within 2 seconds of the ref blowing his whistle? and there is no tantrums from the opposition. will they be thrown out of the comp? could be up for big debation. my personal opinion will be they are not thrown out.

it is based on the instruction from the referee at the beginning of the match ( i am license ref). If the ref gave instruction to wait for his whistle then its not a good goal.Otherwise ,it is a good goal. apparently the UEFA will review the case.Pending.

pedmar you seem a knowledgable chap, what is your opinion on teams who enter champs/uefa cup whose squad is very thin, in england quite a few of the middle of the table teams seem to struggle in the league after coming back from european football, some have even been relegated the year after. what is the situation in the league/s you watch? thank you

well its always a conversation topic when teams have to play several games european and national leagues games back to back; players get hurts etc. also when they are call to play for National team and continue in league play its very tiring too. but hey its modern football;more conditioning, more pampering at the club;and a whole lot more money than ever before! Platini has suggested and he won on it to reduce the number of teams in the champions but give chance to smaller leagues to get in. Alex Fergunson has been critical of that and so am I.I think they should bring it back to before;only the champions maybe second place teams and thats it. then do the similar cup In UEFA, next 2 going at it. Will be more competitive less games but of course the big advertisers will be bother and less money out. So its going to be a long road before any changes are made;lots of infighting at the top of FIFA/UEFA circles.

i agree with everything you say pedmar but with the position my side bolton wanderers are in at the moment 5th and going for fourth spot in the champions league we will never have a better chance of breaking the big four, with our resources and small playing staff the odds are against us apart from the fact we only have the league to play for whilst the big four are all still in 3/4 of the major comps they can still play two top teams and not weaken themselves, plus you play for the best you are involved in all major finals so will play more. i wish we were moaning about having to play in four semi/finals of the worlds major tournaments.

UEFA just oked the goal of MU against Lille and now its going after Lille because it think try to leave the field of play in defiance so will see the decision there.
