There's an aircraft sitting on the tarmac at Málaga airport, but nobody knows who it belongs to. It's a Convair 440 which landed in September 2000 since when the owner hasn't returned. The registration number hasn't been traceable, although the authorities believe it's from north America originally. The official state bulletin last week gave the owner 3 months to come forward, otherwise steps would be taken to remove the plane. So, if you've suddenly remembered you mislaid an aircraft in Spain ... !!

If I were you, I'd check with Hillary Clinton of New York. She seems to know everything, and seldom forgets anything sometimes.

Odds are it was used for drug smuggling and/or money laundering runs ....

This is a picture of that airplane

I have a theory on that plane..... in 1964 a convair 440 took off from Malaga to Tangiers and was reportedly crashed into the sea ... I think this is that plane and it never took off or something... OK OK before someone tells me how crazy that is - I am not sure I am really serious.. just a thought

From the photo it has an "N" tail number which would indicate a US origin. Can blame the Bushes or the CIA for this one, it landed while Clinton was president and before the purported prisoner transit flights to the "black" jails and Guantanamo.

Unless someone has done an expert job of getting rid of the factory serial numbers, from both the airframe, and engines, there has to be some numbers that can trace that plane to the owner. I agree with someone that said it was being used for drug smuggling. An old plane like that could haul a lot of dope.

Wow! That's cool!
That reminds me of a smaller twin engine Beech that I saw in SVQ (Sevilla International)while taxiing in and then back out during a visit in 2001. The Beechcraft looked like it flew through hell and back, although it maneged to appear airworthy, had an US registration identifier or "N" number. As an aviation aficionado and licensed private pilot myself I took interest on it and took the "N" number then upon returning to the US I inquired about it on Landings.com on a reporting section of the website,,, not a 100% sure that that was the site, could have been another.

The aircraft showed a home base in the US (Mid. West?) with ownership by a business or company. I got a stern weird replied saying that no aircraft was missing and that no problems were found.

I wish I'd save the emails replied,,, I've got a real strange vibe about the whole thing. Maybe the one in Sevilla had an imposter tail number... I'll never know now...
