We are getting married in Madrid, and need some recommodations....it is in September, so I'm soon running out of time....

1. We need a place to eat lunch on a friday, app. at 3pm, have anyone a recommended place?? Price - not cheap, but not too expensive, preferably spanish food. We are 15 persons, (12 adults and 3 children (1 and 3 years). :o )

2. We want to do something special this day, any suggestions?? I don't want to be a typical tourist, but want to experience something to remember!

Let´s give it some thought...
Meanwhile
consider looking at http://www.viamichelin.com/ (the Michelin Redbook).

Would EUR 50 per person be 'reasonable'?

It's a big responsability to suggest you a restaurant for such a day, I think that's why almost nobody answers to you, because a lot of people here knows restaurants.
I think you should have a look some days before to see if you like.
A restaurant more or less in 30 € could be
En Busca del Tiempo
http://www.enbuscadeltiempo.com/index.html
One a bit cheaper is Zeraín (Quevedo st.3)
One a little bit more expensive but with very good food is Mesón Gallego II, in Plaza de la Remonta, they have a terraza, and the price will go over 30€ depending on the wine and desserts.
Another good one is Sal Gorda (Beatriz de Bobadilla 9).
You will eat really well in any of this, although I don't find them with the appropriate environment. Maybe Sal Gorda is the smallest one and with a more familiar environment, Mesón Gallego and Zeraín could be a little bit noisy.

To do something special you could like to visit the fiestas de la melonera around the 12th of september (I don't know which day of september you'll come)

thank You for replies!

A little bit more information from me would help, I think....

We arrive Madrid september 11th about noon, and are getting married the next day, sept. 12th.

What is fiestas de la melonera, and where do we find it?

by the way, we are staying in the Salamanca area, are any of the restaurants mentioned in this area?

Sylvia-
Are you looking for the Barrio de Salamanca area (which is in Madrid) or the CITY of Salamanca (approx. 2 1/2 hours away from Madrid:!)That would help smile it is a completely different city and you'll get more information if you clear that up for us smile

The restaurants mentioned are in Madrid- you said you were getting married there so I don't think it occurred to us to give you restaurants outside of Madrid.

Question for you- you'll be getting married in Madrid, and then going to wait for a two hour drive to eat and celebrate it?!

Hello Espe,

thank You for reply!

I was a bit confused myself, have never been to Spain before, and realiced when searching on Internet for Salamanca, that it had to be 2 places.....

I'm staying at the Salamanca-area in Madrid, the Embassy is at the Paseo de la Castellana, and the hotel is at Velázquez.

We are not planning to drive anywhere that day.......

I don't know this restaurant but I've heard it's fine. It's very close to Retiro.

Hi Sylvia,
Congratulations are in order no doubt. How did the wedding go? Well, I hope.

What restaurant did you eventually choose?
