The New York Times published an article on June 3 about the problems with water in Spain, especially in Murcia and especially with the prolonged drought there. You can read the article, "In Spain, Water is a New Battleground," here .

I haven't read the article but Murcia is a particularly dry area. That said, drought here in Madrid region was nearly totally "reclaimed" just from the May rains. In Catalunya the May rains have more than doubled (or nearly tripled) the reservoirs water capacity.

May was a glorious month here in Spain. It rained everywhere - and I mean everywhere - with lots of floods in Catalunya, País Basco, Andalucía.

Might we have more rain this month - but it's more doubtful now with the passing of every day. NOW we'll have to live through the winter with only the May rains' offerings.
