My Bride and I honeymooned in Benidorm in 1961. We stayed at Hotel Miramar; when we went back after 10-years, the 3-story hotel had been torn down and replaced by a high-rise Called Montemar (same owner).
It was just below the 'point' where the fishing boats would dock.
It was my 2nd visit to Benidorm; I had also spent time there in the Summer of 1960.
The newspaper article reports on the number of Brits who live and/or holiday in Benidorm. My own experiences there highlight a like number of German Tourists. They were the first 'wave' of Tourists to popularize Benidorm in the 50's, probably there had been a Luftwaffe R&R Site near there during WWII, thanks to Franco's cosy relations with Hitler's Germany.
