Hi everyone!,

I'm so sorry but I've decided to resort to you guys in the hope you can help me find out a little piece of information, because I'm starting to get desperate....I though maybe one of you has an insider's connection or something like that....

I need to confirm 100% certain if Madrid's 'organismos oficiales' are open on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of Holy Week and the following Monday, April 17th. This is crucial since we must travel there and go, specifically to the Registro Civil, for our marriage, around those dates, and, of course, they never answer the phoooneees!!! :-(

Many thanks in advance,

Paloma

I dont know if they are open or closed but I agree they never answer the phones - I called and called for about 2 weeks at all times of the day and never got an answer - I ended up calling the consulate in Miami, FL - they never answered either and finally got fed up and called the New York Office - they answered and I asked them my questions - How stupid is that - I waitied until I was IN Spain to call and finally had to call a US number to get my questions answered - (and the guy who answered the phone sounded Dominican :-) Anyway you might try the NY office - they are only open in the mornings though I believe until 1 pm .

All those four days you mention are NORMAL WORKING DAYS in Madrid's Working Calendar. But be aware that many civil servants can be on holidays those days. So the offices have to be open, but I cannot guarantee (and probably none can) that the specific person you have to deal with to do your bureaucracy is at the office by then.

Thank you so much Torrales!!

CascadaDuSel, the paperwork for this wedding is hard enough as it is; (try explaining to a civil servant in NY that you're marrying in Madrid a Finnish-born but British passport holder, having just moved to Switzerland, but having had Brussels as the last country of residence.... :hdspin: ) Just kidding, many, many thanks!!
