Fernando,
What alienation are you referring to? From what I gather, the U.S. was more than fair to Spain, even when Franco was dictator. If you're talking about the Spanish/American war, from 1898, that's not a valid point. You're indicating that the people from that era don't trust the U.S. Since that was 104 years ago, I don't think there's too many of the people from either country around who are demonstrating against the other, unless they have wheel-chair rallies, with oxygen bottles handy.
Anyway, I don't really see mass disagreement from the Spanish government against U.S. policy, no matter what anyone indicates. I think the two nations are pretty much on the same page.

I think I'll add a new forum to the message board ONLY for debates. And this way the rest of us can enjoy the simpleness of innocent postings like pim's without getting into heated political issues.

Ufff...
I don't want to make an issue of this... Wolf, either you are missunderstanding what I have said or I can't explain myself properly.
We should better continue the dialogue privately.
Jaimemiguel, you are right, some people applauded the US marines last year, but this time it was stronger and general (that is good!).

Fernando, I think that you have made a little mistake with your English that is causing all of this confussion what has annoyed me this time is how applauded the US marines, and the soldiers of the NATO were.
to annoy means "molestar", and I think that you obviously wanted to say something like "sorprender" Am I right? Saludos.

Yes... sorry for the wrong usage of the term. In spanish I would have used sorprender, so I guess that the best word in english is surprised. I meant that I was positively surprised because I didn't expect it. Sorry! And thanks Francisco! Fernando
