I just received word that the Parador Alarcon is closed until mid-June. Que lastima! We had hoped to stay there. Any other castle/fortress type paradores in that area? --CC

Too bad about the Parador. We ate lunch there last summer and it is beautiful. Cuenca is not too far away. The Parador is in an old convent and looks very nice. We had a view of it from our hotel and stopped by for a drink. (Terrible service. The bar was packed and we left without being served. Maybe it was just a bad night?) However, it is pretty big. Nothing like the little castle in Alarcon, but still might be nice. On the other hand, we just loved the Posada San Jose. Oozing charm.

Thanks for your recommendation of the Posada. I'm hoping that we can get reservations there!!--CC
