Suerte Chip...and let us know how it went. Thanks for the nod of pacharán. wink

I saw the obligatory Headline News story on the kick off in the Pza. del Ayuntmiento. It looked as GREAT as every other year. Tons of bodies, tons of spirit (and spirits) and all kinds of 'ambiente respirable'. I envy you Chip!

Gora San Fermín!

You'll find daily, streaming (not live), mini-movies (using the RealPlayer) of each running-of-the-bulls in Pamplona HERE through the ElPais.es website's coverage of the fiesta .
¡VIVA SAN FERMIN!

By the way, I just looked up the listings for ESPN2 (here in the USA) and they're ONLY broadcasting the running on Saturday, July 14th (1:30am or 9:00pm). Sheesh! In previous years they showed daily runnings DAILY! ARGH!!

Hey, only TWO injured in today's running!

There's a humorous article from Richard Roeper in today's Chicago Sun-Times about San Fermin. Seems Mr. Roeper always roots for the bulls and against the Hemmingway wannabes that always turn up at the fest It's at www.chicagosuntimes.com

News reports today said local "expert" runners were complaining about amateurs and foreigners who risk their lives, but also who put expert runners' life under risk because of what they do.

Please, leave it to the people who really know how to run with the bulls. Most of the times, the injured are foreigners. Running is dangerous so don't risk your life.

Yeah, it seems this year all the injured are americans or canadians. Also this year I've noted that the sanfermines are very VERY crowded and masified.

It is not a joke to put yourself in the way of a bull, they are very powerful animals weighting 600 Kilos and with a lot of muscle power. I won't run in the way of a bull myself, it is really dangerous. It's better watch from a balcony or any other safe place the beautifulness of the Fiesta :-)

Antonio, Fernando,

I totally agree. In fact it would be best if non-Spaniards just sent money to the city fathers of Pamplona based on what they intended spending there, and have them split it up amongst all the businesses on a proportional basis. Then Pamplona wouldn't be over-run by all those foreigners, and the businessmen would be very happy.

Ok, ElGato, but what do the "Non-Spaniards" who send their money get out of the deal?

Anyway, another on-line story of bull-running at http://slate.msn.com/diary/01-07-09/diary/.asp?Msg=2

Any encierro veterans care to tell their tales here?
