14 years after his death, Gerald Brenan, author of South from Granada and many other works on Spain, is finally to be buried next to his wife, the American writer Gamel Woolsey. Her grave is in the Anglican Cemetery in Malaga (east of the centre, on the left along Paseo de Reding). I visited her grave a couple of years ago, and I'm pleased to hear that Brenan will now be buried alongside.
For those who may never have heard of him, Brenan lived in an Alpujarran village (Yemen) during the 1920s (South from Granada is about his experiences there). He left Spain when the civil war reached Malaga but later returned.
