My family will be moving to Madrid for four years this summer and we're looking at schools for out eight year old. He's currently in British school in Romania and I'm interested in hearing if anyone has any comments on the in town schools (especially St Anne's, Hastings, Numont and International School of Madrid).

I had a spot for my six year-old at the International School of Madrid, but he was accepted at a subsidised Spanish catholic school. He went to King's College for 4 years, but we live in Madrid and he'd have had to be bussed out to the suburbs from age 7.

The International School has a pretty good reputation, at least for the primary school level. Its goes through high school, but that is new (an advantage if you end up staying in Madrid). It seemed to have a pretty diverse student body.

The problem with these schools is that the level of Spanish is quite low and the college prep. a bit weak. You should also consider looking at The British Council School (Calle Martinez de Campos). Its a bit more expensive, but gives a full English and Spanish education and seems to prepare better for college.

I don't know anyone who's been to St. Anne's nor Hastings. I know several families in International School and they are happy with it.
