I'm having trouble translating several words pertaining to (Cantabrian) architecture. I can't seem to find them in my trusty Harper Collins Spanish Dictionary. Can any one help me with the following: ventanales and ventanucos (some type of window but what specifically?)...Also, abuhardilladas and buhardillones (attic something?). Thanks a million! --Carole

From my dictionary, buhardillones seem to be large dormer windows.

abuhardillado,da - like a small garret; like a dormer window
ventanal - large window; church window

From Simon & Schuster's Int'l Dictionary

I found them all here . Just remember to do the searching with the singular (ventanal, ventanuco, abuhardillado, buhardilla).

BTW, it's the first time I come across buhardillón, but from the ending, I guess it's a big buhardilla.

Regards,

Antonio
