Hi. Would buying property in Spain automatically warrant residency?

This is a good question. We should continue this thread with americans who have started businesses in Spain. Fom what I understand, there are 100,000 americans living in spain.I understand that people might not want to give away company secrets. How long does the process take? what kind of profit can be made. Hiring help. Anyone.

It would be GREAT if that was the case but I doubt it. Otherwise, peeople around the world would be buying these tiny flats for 50,000 Euros (or less) in the smallest villages of Spain just to get that residency visa. No, buying an apartment/piso/house,farm/etc in Spain does not qualify you for residence. It might be one part of qualifying under independent means, but that does not entitle one to work in Spain. In essence you're showing you have sufficient money from abroad that you don't need to work. Is easiest for wealthy or retirees. Note that a large portion of the US citizens living in Spain never have received proper residence status in any category.
