Even as an American of Spanish descent, I seriously fear that fact will not protect me entirely or wholly for that matter.

How Sephardic do you have to be to take advantage of the law? My dad's family is Sephardic, my mom's isn't.

As for anti-Americanism, what I encountered in Spain was more anti-Bushism. Most people said they didn't blame average Americans for the war in Iraq (highly unpopular in Spain) because they don't seriously think we elected the guy. Of course, if he wins a decisive victory in 2004, the anti-Bushism could quickly turn into anti-Americanism.
