Does it really help to have a TEFL course certificate for teaching English in Spain, I am looking at completing a brief - distance learning course before I come to Spain in September, but was wondering if it would really advance my opportunities of gaining employment.

Does anyone know of any good courses available in England or Spain that have helped them achieve employment?

What sort of job positions have you attained with basic TEFL experience?

hi wayne, well i am currently taking the course here in madrid to obtain the CELTA certificate. yes it will increase your chances, but you can find work through the grapevine as well. i have found 2 english teaching jobs teaching people in their homes, i found those by chance. But i hope after i complete teh CELTA course i can get a steady english teaching job. e-mail for more info and i would be more than happy to answer your questions.

If I was ever interested in the possibility of teaching English in Spain what are the steps to do this? What certifications,Tefl,Celta etc..should I complete to be taken seriously? How does one go about getting clients and what is the pay usually like? I know I can do a search on these tests but I don't even know the first thing about it. What is your situation so far Missmadrid?
