How can I obtain a death certificate in Alcorcon, Spain. I believe this was the last place of residence and the death occured in 2005. This person was my children's stepfather. We heard recently in an email from a third party that he passed away and no further details were available. I've tried to locate phone numbers, but all of the numbers I have apparently have changed.

Any other information, would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Registro Civil de Alcorcon. Calle Carballino, Esquina Timanfaya 28920-91 612 9561 or fax 91 611 8005. Ayuntamiento de Alcorcon: 91 664 81 00.
You need to ask them what you need to do to obtain a certificado de defuncion. I don't really know since my mom did it last year when my dad passed away. I warn you thou, Registro Civil de Alcorcon is always swamped, be patient...

If it is of any help, this is the same page, but in its English version: http://www.justicia.es/servlet/Satellite...e=1060583996645

Thanks to the link that jabch posted, I have discovered that Birth Certificates can be requested online if the person was registered in a Civil Register already computerized (the most important ones; all the rest to follow). And the page to do the same about Death Certificates is there, but still is not ready. Interesting.

Torrales, isn't this great? I was about to pay someone to go get my grandfather's birth certificate when I discovered this online option. I requested the certificate, for free, and received it within a month.

Thank you for the information. When I go to the English version to obtain a death certificate, I get this reply: "This portlet is unavailable. If the problem persists, please contact the portal administrator." Reading above - is not available yet to obtain?

As Torrales mentioned, the service is not available yet for death certificates.
