Are you joking?. Chueca doesn't compare at all with El Raval. El Raval is one of the worst areas in Barcelona full of drug and violence whereas Chueca is a lively area with lots of modern shops, restaurants, cafes. Gay people love it and it's well known everywhere.

What about the area close to la sagrada familia, is it a good area? I am staying at a residencia in that area from 31 of dec to 31 of january.
