I'm heading to Sevilla/Madrid in May, and while I am taking cash for bars and transportation, I'm also wondering about my trusty debit card. I'd rather not use the Visa, as it's my mom's account. I'll use it to buy train tickets and pay for hotel rooms, but for shopping, I'd rather not. I also don't want to wander around Madrid with a lot of cash on me. So, that brings me to my debit card. It's from a relatively small bank, though it does have Interac. Will Interac work in Spain?

No problem at all, ATMs or Banking Machines are the travelers best friend as they allow you to withdrawal cash at bank rates. No more travelers cheques.

But before leaving check with your bank to insure it won't be a problem. As well if you use a longer PIN code than 4 digits you might have a problem.
