Early April is usually great weather. Most residential buildings end their heating on April 1, so the Air quality in Madrid will be much better than the winter months.
Dress for Spring!
April can be a showery month - don't expect any prolonged rainfall. Expect highs mainly in the low 70's. It tends to be a bit cooler out toward Segovia or El Escorial and maybe a little warmer in Toledo. Take a light jacket for excursions out of the city
