Hi joycenj
I have three kinds of recommendations.
The first is about a family run restaurant called The Lanjaron (and it's next door neighbour The New Lanjaron
). This is situated between the town centre and the Ayuntamiento. As a family of 5, two years ago, we ate here regularly. We would have the set menu del dia in the evening (it's called something else in the evening really isn't it?), and it cost us about €20 in total for the 5 of us including one drink each (bottle of san miguel/fanta limon/wine etc) and bread and three courses. This was incredible value. It was possible to choose simple but home made food. We were always more than happy with this. The staff were lovely too, and the place was always full of locals, often with their families. I have to say it is very basic, but I love it.
If you feel like something more up-market then I recommend a restaurant in the centre of the town called (I'll try to remember what it's called - Miguelito - can you remember? You asked someone in the street where would be good for us to eat, and they sent us here). Obviously it was more costly than the Lanjaron. It too had a local flavour.
Another option - and one that I hope to achieve one day in the future - is to eat at one of the trillions of bars and restaurants specialising in amazing seafood dishes along La Carihuela beach area. Here I think you could spend as much as you could afford! Or not, if you wanted to be more restrained.
Surprisingly to me, Torremolinos was not short on authentic, good value Spanish cuisine. I thought I would be surrounded by British chips and burgers :yuck:
I'd love to hear how you find your visit to Torremolinos, and where you ended up eating.
Have a great trip.
Jo
