I'm going to Madrid for the first time in October, any tips/info apreciated. We are staying on Calle Gran Via - reccomendations for nearby districts please and why.

As much as we love to help in this forum, yours is maybe too much of a broad question, it'd take anyone a looong time to answer, so that's a little "scary" and I strongly advice you to use MMan's search tool, which should already provide you with lots of info, and personally, if you specified the number more or less on calle Gran Via (which translates as Main Street) I could focus on the nicest sites/eateries/night clubs, etc.... around it worth a visit.
