All right, I forgot to mention that my beverage of choice for 4 weeks was......... Fanta ! My Madrileno host prefered Nestea . I tried them all and actually Kas is HARDER to find (in bars/ restaurants). You can find it easyly in Alcampo, Eroski etc.
A few years ago I found Kas prevailed in the bars/restaurants.
Side by side comparison (both chilled) here is what I found: Fanta Naraja or limon has a smoother, more "mature" taste. What I mean by that is that is not as sweet or strong. (Room temperature Kas is almost impossible to drink). Fanta is lighter refreshing and not overpowering, the colder the better.
PS: Unless you know what your getting into, do not get the Kas "Bitter".

I was told by my bar owner buddy that Fanta is a Coca-Cola product and Kas is Pepsi. You don't see near as much Pepsi in Spain as you do Coke.

As for myself, I prefer Schweppes!

I work for Pepsi here in Madrid. It's true that is not easy to find Pepsico products in Madrid, but if you go to the north you'll find kas everywhere!.
Kas has more juice, so it tastes stronger than fanta or schweppes.
Schweppes does not have juice, it's all chemistry.
Talking about Bitter Kas, it's a unique product but it tastes different, the people who likes it could kill for it

That's the truth about Bitter Kas..my father's face would light up when he saw it behind a bar! I on the other hand just cannot stomach the stuff.

In my refrigerator right now, I have the last can of a 6-pack of Fanta Limón that I brought from Spain in July. I had to use the last few Euros on something in the airport! I can't bring myself to drink it. I feel good (connected...maybe?) just knowing it is there.

Fanta naranja was my comfort drink while in Spain. I was like a commercial for Fanta. I miss it dearly. Kas was a worthy replacement when I couldn't find Fanta.

Yes!! I fogot! Schwepps (Naraja or limon) is the worthy replacement when others are not available. If I am not mistaken, they also have a "Bitter" version. Happy taste testing.
PS: Get your money's worth and get the 1.5 liter bottle from AlCampo!!

You know, I never thought about it, but I did see more Pepsi when I went North.
In fact I clearly remember not seeing any Pepsi in 1992, until we got to Salamanca. Strange what you remember.

I've been in Austin 2 months ago!, I went to McCombs to pass an exam for my MBA (Executive MBA in ESADE, Madrid), it's a great city! (I truely miss the Hooters and see the Bats everywhere flying out from the bridge!, it was amazing!!!!)
