I've been to Madrid 4 times and have yet so see a flamenco show in town. I hear Casa Patas is good.

Are all flamenco shows in Madrid touristy/cheesy.

I'd love to see a great guitarist but at the same time I don't want to waste an evening.

Are locals going to these show?

Thanks

Casa Patas is traditional flamenco, not flashy. It is very good if you understand Spanish and appreciate the art. It is not real touristy, but remember, tourists love Madrid. The venue is very small so there is not alot of seating. The late shows are best. Buena suerte......

I would recommend "Cardamomo" near Huertas .. It doesn't get going to at least midnight , but they encourage jam sessions and last time I was there they had a great gypsy guitarist ( I have video footage of it ) .A lot of the patrons were also gypsy and clapping and dancing by the bar . It's quite a big place and quite smart but very authentic at the same time .
