As your Cruise ship enters the Ria de Vigo: On your right is Baiona, where Columbus made landfall on return from his first Voyage of Discovery. The Castle of the Conde de Gondomar is now a Parador in Baiona.
On your left is Islas Cies, a nature preserve on which no overnight camping is allowed (but they do it anyway).
Some long-standing rumors tell a story that the Conde and Columbus were cousins, and Columbus offloaded there some Gold and other valuable cargo he had plundered in the New World.
