Valenciano--I'm allergic to plátanos de sombra, too. That's why I know so much about them. There's one right in front of my house and streets lined with them pretty much everywhere I need to go. I'm so glad that it has rained, I hope this is the end of all that fuzz for this year!

I spent two weeks in Burgos last July while taking classes at the University. I can readily attest that these trees along the river do in fact provide a lovely and cooling canopy of shade. There are several interesting cafes, bookstores and other shops there which are great for escaping from the summer sun.
