My husband and I are coming to Spain for the first time this March. We will spend 6 days in Madrid. (meeting up with others here so this part of our trip is less flexible)
After that we are planning on renting a car and driving to Granada 17th-20th. Any suggestions on day trips along the coast or in the white hill towns? or other towns to base our southern travels out of? we love b&bs if anyone has a suggestion.

also thinking about day trip to Segovia. is bus or train better? the renfe site is down, so does anyone have a price estimate for me? or alternate website?

Our travel group will spend a day in Toledo, but I see in other postings that Segovia is also quite quaint and we have had really good luck going to smaller towns...

any rental car company recommendations? should we reserve online before we arrive (in 11 days!! ) is it easier to rent outside of Madrid (or at airport)since we will rent it on our way to Granada...
