Was considering a stopover in late November, and I'm wondering if it's worthwhile, especially since public transportation is spotty. I'm a big fan of Romanesque architecture, and I'd like to visit and photograph the monuments, as well as enjoy the local wine. Any advice?

Thanks, and I agree that the city of Zamora is a delightful place. However, I am referring to the town of Toro in the province of Zamora. Anybody been there?

I haven't been to Toro but it's on the way to my mother's home town in Zamora. Toro is well-known for its wine and it's only 33 kilometers from Zamora.

In my opinion, you should try to visit Zamora during the Holy week (it's one of the most popular Holy weeks in Spain) and then go to Toro on a day trip. Although I haven't been there, I don't think there is much to do in Toro. Just remember to buy some wine and visit the village.

Auto-res operate the route from Madrid to Zamora stopping at Toro. There are several buses a day including a Express service.

And last, here you have a list of links about Zamora (I'm afraid most of them are in Spanish only):

Guia de Zamora

Buscador de turismo de Castilla y León

Diputación de Zamora

Zamora guide from Iberica.com

(By the way, http://english.iberia.com is one of my favourite websites. Check it out).

And check out also, La Netro

Regards,

Antonio

Thanks for the great info, Antonio (Spanish is not a problem). Didn't know connections from Zamora were that easy. Maybe I'll do a day trip, with Zamora as a base. (They do seem to have some very interesting monuments, according to www.helcom.es/ayuntoro/ciudad.htm ).

[I've just edited your link to make it clickable]

Hi Leuci,

There are about 5 or 6 buses between Toro and Zamora in each way.

The bus stop in Toro is at the Hostal Doña Elvira (Tel: 980 69 00 62).

I'm not sure about tourist atractions in Toro but I would definitely go to Zamora during the Holy Week (and be sure to book in advance).

Regards,

Antonio
