San Lorenzo del El Escorial is my favorite, I am planning to move there in January. It is a town right outside of Madrid, in the northwest direction. The city hold it's name by the Monastery named El Escorial that dominates the town, it was built by Phillip II. El Escorial is a great town to relax in and pass the Spanish time away. I have all the information you need if anyone is interested in going. Great place to stay if you are visiting Madrid because it's half the price to stay in that town than in Madrid

So tell us, missmadrid98. WHY/HOW are you going to El Escorial? We'd all love to know how you were able to live there. Working? Marriage? Stow-away?

Saludos, MadridMan

I am going to get certified as an english teacher before I go. I am actually in college right studying to be a teacher, so it is something i have always wanted to do. So I will be working as a english teacher to spanish students. I am going ahead of time before I move to find a place and get my visas in order. very happy and excited, it's about time! I have been wanting to move to madrid for 2 years, and now i'm going, no more talking about it. I am also a flamenco dancer and i want to study in Spain under some of the best teachers Madrid has to offer. It is where my soul and heart are at peace and that is where I belong, in Spain! Viva Espana!

Right on!! I agree, VIVA ESPAÑA, it is great that you are getting to do everything that you wanted to. I have been to El Escorial, it is an absolutely wonderful town, I visited the Monastery there also and it was beautiful. You are very lucky to have this opportunity. And you can get to Madrid in an hour on the Cercanías. Qué suerte. Good luck and I hope that everything works out for you.

thanks for your delightful response. i'm so happy you had that experience in El Escorial, i can just picture it. The little kids always play soccer during recess or after school. looks like we will be going at the same time, thanks for the extra encouragement!
