Is it possible/practical to consider going from Lisbon to Sevilla by bus? In March, April, May 2002.

Where can I get specific information on route, timetable, and fares?

Thanks for any guidance here. ... wdc

Possible? Yes!
The Eurolines Lisboa - Malaga bus operates aout 3-days/week during that time frame. It goes by way of Sevilla. For schedules try your search engine with key word Eurolines and then click on Portugal (or Spain). It's operated by Viajes Julia. Lisboa - Sevilla is about a 9.5 hour bus ride. http://www.eurolines.es ... click on 'Portugal'
Practical? rolleyes

I took that bus in '95 and it was a looong 9 1/2 hour bus ride since the bus stopped in every town along the way and then you had to get another bus at the border (after a wait). Has anyone taken this bus since then? I wonder if things have changed any. I believe I heard it would take about 5 hours to drive from Lisbon to Sevilla.

I took it on my way to Lisboa for Expo'98. I just checked the schedule and it appears to be about the same this year as it was then: It made a 1-hour meal stop less than an hour after Sevilla then it just made 3-stops (one at the Portuguese border). The latter was just for money exchange. There's no Customs or Immigration any more; and after the first of 2002 no money exchange (both will use Euro).
When on the autovia heading for Lisbon, it was really 'smokin.' I estimated speed at about 150km/hr. The final enroute stop was Setubal, then we came across the 25 April bridge for a magnificent view of Lisboa and Belém. rolleyes
Portuguese time is an hour back from ET.

We took the bus from Seville to Lisbon. We left Seville at 12:30 and was in Lisbon by 7:00pm. WE got stuck in rush hour traffic in Lisbon. You drive from one end of town to the other and end up at the new bus/rail station near the Vasco deGama area/World's Fair area. We stopped a couplke times, with a couplke 30 minute breaks. Bring a sandwich, and a book, or catch up on your sleep. The scenery is great though.
