A quick question: How do you say in Spanish: "I give up!" Although we supposedly have a flight out on the 23rd and a return on October 14th, the logistics are daunting. I'm thinking of cancelling the whole thing but will need to fax/e-mail all of the inns, etc. I've tried to explain the predicament and am awaiting replies but "I give up" pretty much says it all. It's just too emotional of a time.

How about "me rindo?"

Gracias, la maestra. I haven't used it (me rindo) yet. I am trying really hard to re-arrange the entire three week itinerary. It must be a busy time in Trujillo as I have not been able to re-schedule at the Hotel La Cadena. I have another alternative...several kilometers from town. But I had been hoping to stay on the Plaza Mayor. Oh well. Keep your fingers crossed!!

Here's another good one: "Paso de eso" or "I've had it with this". Of course "paso de tí" is the human equivalent (I've had it with you). Literally "I'm moving on to more important things than...."

No me rindo. Me voy. Mañana.

I have this calendar that shows a new Spanish phrase every day, and today was "The coast is clear: No hay moros en la costa." Is that for real? I nearly fell over laughing!
