FYI,

for those of you who are endeavoring the job search in Spain, i have a couple of suggestions (some of which have appeared before in previous posts):

1. http://infojobs.net - mainly for people looking to get computer jobs in Spain, but for sure has postings for buyers, managers, etc... the only problem i've had with it is that they don't often offer sponsorship. but dig around, you never know what you'll find. i've seen this link before on this message board.

2. http://iscworld.com/ - international staffing consultants - this site places people around the globe. many of the jobs tend to be managerial and 'business' positions, but nonetheless, covering most industries. they have a jobs mailing list they send out frequently

3. http://www.spanish-living.com/ - originally posted by someone else on this site. but what a *GREAT* link for 'spanish-living' issues.

the reason i'm posting this info is that i've been looking for a way to get to Europe *legally*, specifically ¡SPAIN!, for a while, like many of you. need i even say that it would be great to have the opportunity to live and work in Spain again...? ok, i won't say it.

those of us looking have pulled our hair out trying to find the best, and hopefully tasteful, ways to get there. there are ways, we just have to find them!

many of us have found that sponsorship has been the key denying factor. i have found two things to be very true (even tho i haven't scored a gig yet):
1. apply domestically for jobs that offer the possibility of sponsorship. there are a lot of american/foreign companies that post, interview, and offer to american citizens from right here in the USA.
2. if the foreign or domestic job posting you find does not indicate 'sponsorhip,' then they likely will not sponsor you. they are probably looking for someone local. if you are just plain the right person for the job, then they will make an effort to get you. just don't get too frustrated with that aspect.

i recently scored an interview for a position in Barcelona for a US company, interviewing here in LA. i didn't get it but that's ok. i still know there are some opportunities out there. if you speak Spanish, and at least another romance language, you will get interviews.

now this is just my experience. i'm sure everyone has their own stories. i for one would love to hear them! i would also love to hear more tips on searching.

good luck to you job searchers. smile

Andrew
